Cambodian and French Parliamentary Leaders Discuss Deepening Legislative Ties

Paris, France: The President of the National Assembly of the French Republic has expressed a warm welcome and high regard for the official visit by the President of the Cambodian National Assembly. This visit, which coincided with the summit for female parliamentary speakers held in France, was an opportunity to reinforce the cooperative relationship between the legislative bodies of the two nations.

Meeting in Paris on March 5, the President of the French Parliament, Ms. Yaël Braun-Pivet, and her Cambodian counterpart, Khuon Sudary, engaged in discussions aimed at strengthening ties. Ms. Sudary conveyed her satisfaction with the flourishing relationship and noted the importance of this connection. She emphasized that the growing bond between Cambodia and France extends beyond bilateral benefits, serving to uphold multilateral principles, encourage dialogue, and contribute to global peace and social stability.

Ms. Sudary also provided insights into Cambodia's rapid socio-economic advances, crediting the continuous support from France across various sectors since 1991 as a contributing factor to this progress. She appealed for further support in training Cambodian legislative officials and for efforts to increase trade and tourism from France to Cambodia.

Ms. Braun-Pivet expressed her admiration for the enduring presence of the French language in Cambodia and encouraged efforts to continue French language education, particularly among the younger generations.

The Cambodian delegation, led by Ms. Sudary, is on an official visit from March 2 to 11. Their participation in the international summit is part of a broader initiative to advocate for the rights and interests of women and girls globally. The meetings reflect the shared commitment of Cambodia and France to reinforce their long-standing alliance through enhanced legislative collaboration and cultural exchange.
